H-TownLabs is a fractional AI strategy practice for local businesses and founders who are done experimenting with AI and want a system that actually works. I diagnose where AI creates real leverage, build the thing myself, and stay accountable for the result.
// The story
I started H-TownLabs because Houston deserved better options.
I started H-TownLabs because Houston businesses had two bad options for AI: a coastal consultant who'd hand over a six-figure strategy deck and disappear, or a tool vendor selling software with no plan behind it. Meanwhile every owner in town was having the same conversation — a lot of hype, very little working software, and nobody willing to say "this use case isn't worth it."
So I built the thing I wished existed: one senior, plain-spoken, locally accountable strategist who does the rare middle thing — picks the highest-ROI workflow, builds the working system, and stays to make it stick. I take on a small number of engagements at a time so each one gets real attention.
I run my own stack of AI agents and shipped tools day to day — utility apps, a review-automation product, a reservation system, a secure personal-agent platform. That's not a portfolio flex; it's why I already know what's realistic, what's hype, and what will actually run in your business by next week.

I spent years at Oracle so small businesses wouldn't have to.
I spent years at Oracle on the Cloud Infrastructure team, helping large organizations think through AI strategy and the infrastructure choices that come with it — where models live, how data flows, what gets built versus bought, and who owns the outcome. What this taught me, above everything else: most AI conversations aren't about the technology. They're about the decisions.
Somewhere along the way, I noticed the same questions those enterprises were wrestling with — Where does AI actually fit in what we do? What's real, what's noise? Who owns this? — were being asked by small business owners in my own neighborhood. Only they had nobody to ask. No fractional CIO. No strategy team. Just a founder, a laptop, and a growing suspicion they were falling behind.
That's why I started H-TownLabs.
What I actually do
I'm a fractional AI strategist for small and mid-size businesses. Not a software vendor. Not a chatbot company. Not another agency selling “AI-powered” everything. I sit on your side of the table and help you answer the questions that matter before you spend a dollar on tools:
- Where does AI actually pay off in your business — and where is it a distraction dressed up as innovation?
- What do you build, what do you buy, and what do you ignore?
- How do you adopt this without breaking the people, workflows, and customer experience that make your business work in the first place?
Most of the owners I talk to don't need more software. They need somebody who's seen how this plays out at scale and can translate it down to a plumbing shop, a bakery, a staffing firm, or a solo advisor — without the enterprise theater.
Why the enterprise background matters here
At the enterprise level, you learn what actually works and what falls apart six months in. That pattern recognition is the whole point of hiring a strategist. You're not paying for something you could Google. You're paying for somebody who's already watched a hundred AI initiatives succeed or fail and can tell you, honestly, which one yours looks like.
Small businesses deserve that same rigor. They just usually can't access it — that's the gap H-TownLabs is built to close.
The Houston piece
I'm based in Dickinson, TX (45 minutes south on I-45 from downtown Houston), and I built H-TownLabs to serve the operators I actually know: the trades, the local service businesses, the family-run shops, the professionals who keep this metro moving.
I'm plain-spoken. I'll tell you what's working, what isn't, and what's not worth your time. If we're a good fit, you'll know quickly. If we're not, I'll say so and point you somewhere useful.
